Susan Imitates Noriega in Namibia

The NBA finals have long come and gone. It's already the Fourth of July weekend and today seems our first summer day, save for all that summer weather we had in April. "My Pistons" lost. Fortunately, I wasn't too emotionally invested in their victory. I like the Spurs, save for they beat the Sonics to get to the finals. So much for my basketball Jones.

The last three days I've been listening to the roar of un-muffled car engines, breathing spent race fuel and watching the PNW Historic Races at Pacific Raceways. To the right is a pic of Phil Hill in his Carrerra Panamerica Ferrari, taken at last year's event by my friend Mike Sanderson . Many beautiful cars – I'll be looking forward to this year's pic's. On SOVREN race weekends our friend Mike Smith turns wrenches for J&L Fabricating, so we spent a bit of time chatting with him in the pits over a Chevron formula car or two. Which reminds me of Tam's Old Race Car Site, my favorite place on the web to indulge in my Speed Racer dreams.

I just had to add another one of Mike Sanderson's pic's - this one from the Namib desert, taken on a self-guided safari of Namibia and Botswana last November.

Which then reminded me that my friend Susan McCord is still in Namibia at the moment. Telecommuting her engineering work in to the office and up to who knows what. Which further reminds me to send her an email and get the scoop. Here she is doing her best Manuel Noriega imitation.

The Pistons beat the Spurs Tuesday night, forcing the first game seven in eleven years. These last two games were hard fought and likely a preview of a sensational game seven. I'm rooting for the Pistons. They seem the spiritual underdogs and have scrapped their way back into contention in every series. Never imploding or exploding, just out-working their opponents when elimination was on the line.

Going in a few minutes over to my friend Gregg's to watch game seven. Gregg is soon leaving (July) on a year-long trip from the Alaskan Arctic to Tierra del Fuego, Argentina. He's raising money for the American Diabetes Association. Gregg happened to bump in to John Curley from Evening Magazine today while they were shooting bits for the show. Gregg introduced himself and got himself a plug for the ride. The piece should air sometime over the next few days. Great timing – Greg is in the groove. Check out Gregg and his buddy Brooks' Ribbon of Road site to contribute and follow their exuberant adventure through the Americas.

Finished Nate and Michelle's wedding website today. Feels good. The site is fun and functional. I am grateful that I've been able to give them something practical. The information at the site will smooth the road for those traveling from far and wide to what will be a fantastic wedding on Orcas Island in August. I'll be sailing up with Terry and Christie and likely we'll moor at Rosario for the weekend. I am already excited and imagining the antics of our days together in the San Juans.

Posting some prayers/affirmations to the prayer pages tonight.

I've been reading a great book lately: Ask and it is Given, by Esther and Jerry Hicks. Resultantly I am more meticulous about my daily thoughts, directing them towards what I want, enjoy, appreciate, prefer and for what I am grateful. We really do create the world in which we live, regardless of whether we are conscious of it or not. I am choosing to be more aware of my everyday participation in creating what I attract in life.

A distillation of the Abraham-Hicks teachings can be found here.

Prayer for a Founder, CEO, President or Chairman:

I am the caretaker of a vision. Spiritual health harbors my mandate. Joy fuels my objectives and shines in my achievements. My physical, emotional and mental health stand as cornerstones to my passion and the vitality of my enterprise. I celebrate my fortune in Love with my family, employees and friends. I express my greatest Self through the vehicle of my business.

God is my confidant, advisor and guide – I need only Trust.
Intuition is my bridge – from the heights of its span I See.
Knowledge and Truth walk by my side – I need only Receive them.
Self is my landscape, and my horizon – I walk under God's light.

When You enter the room the world stops. When I See You the Universe begins. No Thing exists anymore but in my imagination. You are the source of all that is and ever will be. I thrive in Your presence and allow You, to the fullest extent my fire for You consumes all that lies in the way - which is nothing, but my attention for others and other things. You are the Source and You are the Desire. You are the Grace which walks alongside me and the Strength which powers my every step towards that which I know is Self. When You are with me I Know. You are always with me whether I know or not. The only thing greater than my love for You is your Love for All — that to which I belong, the All and which I always have been, One. There is no greater joy than to be with You. There exists nothing else but to be with You. You are that which I breathe. You are that which lights the sun. You are that which slakes my thirst. You are that which hangs the stars and moves the moon. You have known this and I now remember.

Tonight Bryce and I visited the Fifth Anniversary Investment Forum and were entertained by investment wiz, adventurer, world traveler and author Jim Rogers. Jim has many great stories to tell and an easy humor. I'll leave it to his website to illuminate his vast experience as a citizen of our planet. He presented us with a great global perspective on everything from the dollar on its way down to the long-term bull commodities market, to the eventual emergence of a freely traded Chinese currency into the world market in 2007. His two year old daughter is investing in Canada and has a Swiss bank account...

Website content for Smart Portfolios is done. Now Bryce and I just need to review it. Happy about it.

I've archived the first page and tonight am working out the logic puzzle that leads to clean navigation. The wind blows the flag on top of Two Union Square straight south, boding fair weather tomorrow. The sunset tonight was lovely through my freshly cleaned windows. I am grateful for my laptop, comfy chair and expansive view. Now, I'd like a wireless connection so I could post this page without having to go into my office and plug into the network.

Last Thursday evening I visited the Sheraton for Dr. Glenn Terrell's 85th birthday. Dr. Terrell was the beloved president of Washington State University while I was a student in the late seventies and early eighties. I was inspired by the love in the room for Dr. Terrell. Former students, faculty, regents, presidents, Seattle business luminaries and friends surrounded him with appreciation. I reconnected with Lou Tice, who with his wife Diane founded the Pacific Institute. I met Lou while directing corporate training events with SportsMind and On The Edge in the eighties. Lou is quite the networker and both Dr. Terrell and Lou suggested that Lou and I chat. I will make a point to follow-up with him this week.
